Description
Some authors eschew reference to the master’s genius, dwelling mainly on the very human foibles to which even the greatest are prone. Such a chronicle is this, happily without evaluation of the artists of the period, nor is it meant to be a comprehensive history of art of the region since many deserving people are not included in my personal memories. In the final chapter, the post war coda, I found myself trying not to leave out anyone. It began to read like the roll call of a political rally, necessitating a good deal of painful slashing. This editing the author hopes may help save and share the spice of the era.
