Description
Blue Haze: Songs of Jimi Hendrix is a tribute that coincides with the 30th anniversary of the guitarist’s death. Featuring 14 tracks from old friends like Eric Burdon (on two tracks and author of the liner notes) and Buddy Miles along with a host of admirers, this combination of talent manifests itself as a whole, instead of sounding completely separate with each individual track (a damaging aspect of the Stone Free tribute from 1993). The music focuses mainly on Hendrix material that was created with an obvious blues inspiration. Highlights include: “Hear My Train a Comin” by Bernard Allison, “Red House” by Vernon Reid & Michael Hill, “All Along the Watchtower” by Taj Mahal, and “Remember” by Alvin Youngblood Hart. ~ Al Campbell
