Description
Norton Buffalo is considered one of the great harmonica players of the last 50 years. He started playing with the Steve Miller Band in 1976 and continued to play with the band until he died of cancer in 2009. Kim Smith Miller was the principal photographer of the Steve Miller Band from 1982 to 2012, during which time she took thousands of photographs of Norton. Known for capturing the emotional spirit of her subjects, Kim brings Norton to life through a selection of her photographs. Her photographs are augmented by essays by fellow band-members Kenny Lee Lewis and Steve Miller, as well as by in-depth interviews with Kim Miller and harpist Curtis Salgado by curator Ian Boyden.
FEATURES
- “The immense inner beauty of Norton Buffalo came out in his music, but photographer Kim Miller has accomplished the miracle of capturing that bliss and love of humanity that filled his every note as a musician. This labor-of-love volume shimmers with the inspiration that guided Buffalo’s path, beautifully executed, magnificently displayed and sumptuously evocative.” —Joe Selvin
