Description
Why would an ordained minister leave leave a pastorate in a denomination he had been raised in, a local church where he and his family were loved, where they loved and adored the congregation, where they had seen solid growth and development, and where they had planed to live out the rest of their years in ministry? Discovering the New Covenant is the story of a former Seventh-day Adventist Pastor who was challenged by the discovery that the Old Covenant system of law was a temporary institution superseded by the New Covenant of Grace. He was challenged specifically by the Pauline epistles where many of the religious practices taught by the denomination he had served for 20 years, were no longer required for post cross believers. This discovery came after much intense Bible study and prayerful soul searching. Eventually Greg and his wife Paula and their two sons resigned from the Adventist pastorate. They felt they could no longer teach as requirements those things that the New Testament clearly teaches were fulfilled in Christ. They could no longer endorse or teach things contrary to their convictions. This was an extremely difficult decision as it meant leaving many church members, family, and friends to wonder why they would leave a church that believes it is the only true church in the last days. This book was written to explain these Biblical discoveries with his family and friends who still attend the SDA church. It is also designed to help answer questions about Adventism for those curious about the SDA worldview.
